How can the union support you as you move through the school year and serve our students? How can we help you be the best educator and advocate for your kids that you can be? How are dues dollars an investment in yourself as a professional?
Whether you realize it or not, the bulk of your dues go toward local support of educators. Significant portions of your local dues are spent on governance, allowing our local to work collaboratively with the district in a way that best serves teachers and students. At the state level, roughly 36% of your dues go to advocacy and affiliate services, which sponsors our UniServ program. The UniServ program pays for our local consultants, who help the association bargain contracts, settle disputes, and advocate for local educators. Nationally, dues come back to us in the form of programs, such as the NEA Opportunity Checklist, and in grants for the UniServ program, among other ways.
We are so excited to use these opportunities at the local, state, and national level to help support you in your classrooms. Keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities around professional development, the Student Success Act, and more.
