One Week Down, and Many More to Go!

How can the union support you as you move through the school year and serve our students? How can we help you be the best educator and advocate for your kids that you can be? How are dues dollars an investment in yourself as a professional?

Whether you realize it or not, the bulk of your dues go toward local support of educators. Significant portions of your local dues are spent on governance, allowing our local to work collaboratively with the district in a way that best serves teachers and students. At the state level, roughly 36% of your dues go to advocacy and affiliate services, which sponsors our UniServ program. The UniServ program pays for our local consultants, who help the association bargain contracts, settle disputes, and advocate for local educators. Nationally, dues come back to us in the form of programs, such as the NEA Opportunity Checklist, and in grants for the UniServ program, among other ways.

We are so excited to use these opportunities at the local, state, and national level to help support you in your classrooms. Keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities around professional development, the Student Success Act, and more.

Sick Leave Bank MOU

The sick leave bank needs donations. During the month of September 2019, members can donate 1 personal leave day plus 2 sick leave days. Employees must have 120 hours of sick leave to be eligible to donate. Once the month of September is over, the original language regarding sick leave donations remains in effect. You can email albanyea@oregoned.org to donate, or you can fill out a Google Form here: http://bit.ly/sickleavedonations
